The BMW S85 is a unique V10 petrol engine developed by M GmbH for the E60 M5 and E63 M6. Produced from 2005 to 2010, it had an aluminium block with a 90° bank angle, DOHC, individual throttle bodies per cylinder, Double VANOS, and a high-revving design. Displacement 5.0 litres, power 507 hp. Redline was 8250 rpm. It is celebrated for its incredible sound and racing character. However, it is known for rod bearing and valve cover issues. Requires meticulous maintenance. Lifespan around 150,000 km with proper care.
