• Twin-turbocharging (TwinPower Turbo) • Direct fuel injection • High tuning potential

The BMW N54 is a twin-turbocharged inline-6 petrol engine produced from 2006 to 2013. It replaced the naturally aspirated N52 and was used in the 135i, 335i, 535i, and X6 xDrive35i. The engine had an aluminium block, DOHC, direct fuel injection (HPI), and two turbochargers. Displacement 3.0 litres, power up to 306 hp (N54B30) and 340 hp in the Performance Edition. Thanks to turbocharging, it delivered massive torque (up to 400 Nm) over a wide rev range. However, the N54 is notorious for injector failures, HPFP issues, turbo rattles, and VANOS faults. With proper maintenance and replacement of problem components, the engine can exceed 200,000 km.
